Daniel Rivers is a contemporary neo-expressionist artist based in Munich, Germany, known for his raw, emotionally charged paintings that explore themes of identity, culture, and personal memory. Working primarily with acrylic and mixed media on large-format canvas, Rivers creates one-of-a-kind artworks that capture the complexity of human experience in an unfiltered, expressive style.

Born in Munich to a Black American father and a white German mother, Daniel Rivers’ upbringing in rural Germany during the 1990s deeply influences his visual narrative. His work often reflects experiences of alienation, cultural duality, and the search for belonging. Each painting is driven by feeling, rather than concept—intuitive, gestural, and never repeated.

Early exposure to street art and later to the work of Jean-Michel Basquiat helped shape Rivers’ commitment to emotional honesty and the expressive potential of painting. Before becoming a full-time artist, he worked in various creative and corporate roles, but returned to art after recognizing its central role in his well-being and identity.

Since 2024, Daniel Rivers has focused fully on his career as a visual artist. His work has been described as introspective, powerful, and immediate—often created during night sessions when the world is quiet and clarity comes through. His paintings ask questions about existence and invite the viewer to feel rather than interpret.
